About ENTAVIR 0.5 MG TABLETS

• Active ingredient:Entecavir, a nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTI).
• Mechanism of action:Entecavir blocks the viral DNA polymerase enzyme, which is essential for the hepatitis B virus to replicate. This action controls the infection and minimizes liver damage.
• Purpose:To manage chronic HBV infection in adults and, in some cases, children aged 2 and older. It is not a cure for hepatitis B and does not prevent its transmission.

• Entavir is typically taken once daily on an empty stomach, at least two hours before or after a meal.
• The tablets should be swallowed whole and not chewed, crushed, or broken.
• Your doctor will determine the exact dosage and duration of treatment.
• It is crucial not to stop taking the medication abruptly, as this can cause a severe flare-up of the hepatitis B infection.

• Headache
• Nausea and vomiting
• Fatigue and dizziness
• Stomach pain or indigestion
• Diarrhea

• Lactic acidosis:Symptoms include unexplained muscle pain, trouble breathing, irregular heartbeat, and severe stomach pain.
• Liver problems:Symptoms include yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), dark-colored urine, light-colored stools, or severe abdominal pain.

• Pre-existing conditions:Inform your doctor if you have kidney or severe liver disease, as a dosage adjustment may be necessary.
• HIV co-infection:Patients with both HBV and HIV should not take Entavir unless they are also being treated for HIV, as it could cause the HIV to become resistant to treatment.
• Pregnancy and breastfeeding:The effects on unborn and nursing infants are not fully known. Consult your doctor before taking Entavir if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
• Alcohol consumption:Avoid alcohol while taking this medication, as it may increase the risk of liver damage.
• Driving/operating machinery:This medication can cause dizziness or sleepiness. Avoid driving or other activities that require focus until you know how it affects you.
